Great question. I think that atheists talk so much about God, because they are trying to convince themselves there is no God, so they do not have to be responsible for their sin. If I do not believe in something, I would not talk about it so much. I talk about what I do believe in - and that is Jesus. I think God is drawing those people to Him with these questions, even when they do not want to be drawn. He loves them!!

Actually a lot of Xtians do talk about Bigfoot and so on. It is not belief in God or curiosity that makes most of the atheist discuss God. It is mostly that they are having problems with the religious trying to legislate their God into the state.
If you look at your money ( I am assuming USA) you will find the words "In God We Trust" which replaced the older phrase "E Pluribus Unim" during the height of McCarthyism (about 1957). E Pluribus Unim means "Out of Many, One." A motto speaking of unity of different people in one state became a statement of religious, specifically Christian, faith. We see the same thing going on today. This question and answer page is one of the few places that they can fight back. If they don't the Dominionists will succeed in turning the USA into a Theocracy. (You really should look those up if you don't understand the terms)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominionism
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theocracy
There are also a number of them who view the religious behaviour of the TV evangelists as that of a bunch of con artists preying on the vulnerable and they hope to bring some change there, they want to save people like you from being victims.

I think Atheists would talk about God some much to influence others in not believing in him. If that is the case, then its a waste of time for them. Most of Russia is Atheist, which I find odd. How does a nation grow to be godless? I don't know the percentage of atheists in America, but its small compared to the number of people who believe in SOMETHING! We are filled with religions in America and each one has some sort of diety to believe in. Atheists are outnumbered so I don't care about them influencing me.

I've actually wondered about this myself. I think that it's because they feel that Christianity is pushed down their throat; our country was founded by believers, it's discussed all the time, and some people see atheists as evil, because they don't believe.

My opening discussions, maybe they're trying to get people to understand their point of view, which I think is great. My only issue is that people can be so condescending on both sides so the discussion doesn't get very far.

for the same reason people talk about any pipe dreams or misinformation ... out of interest in the sheep to slaughter and the out of sympathy for those in a fools paradise or some to just set the record straight . I've seen a few Christian devils discussing big foot and aliens both. Is your edification a waste of time or does the balance of the two sided coin warrant opposing views ?
Peace out

A very good point. I believe that there are very few true atheists.

Most would be better described as agnostic. In any case,Romans 1;20 says in a nutshell that God is perfectly visable in his creation and that there is no excuse for those
who will not see the obvious.

The truth is that most self described atheists are seeking enlightenment and truth.

We are all born with the same hole in the middle of our heart. And we all also are born with the same inate urge to fill it.

When you are made in His image it is kinda hard not to talk about Him. You may not know Him in His fullness yet but in time you will. God will have His way. He has alot more time to spend than we do. He is eternal with no beginning and no end. If you think it isn't so then try and stop God. That is a laugh! Where would you go to get in front of Him and how would you stop Him if you could see Him? He sees you at all times and He is all around you and knows your ways your ups and your downs. You don't have a chance. Come to Him! He is waiting for you!

Because Christians are trying to turn their religion into political policy in the USA, just as Muslims are turning their religion into political policy in the Middle East.

Considering the lessons visible from theocratic governments in the middle east, we are obligated to do everything and anything to prevent the same threat from occuring from Christians in the USA. If destroying faith is part of it, then we're serving the dual purpose of spreading the fact that there are no gods or goddesses or divine beings at all, at the same time we are showing loyalty and patriotism to our secularly founded country.

Lol, you didn't even notice what you did their with your question. You just compared god to big foot and aliens, so you admit the similarities in the probability of their existence.
