My father is a veteran of the vietnam war. 10 years ago he had 2 strokes and was put into a nursing home by the state becuase they found my mom not fit to take care of him. I was wondering when he dies who will take care of the funeral and will the state get all of his money. I was told my father had over $50,000 in his estate but i dont know if im eligible to get any money out of it.He has a lawyer but she is a b**** and wont let me look into his estate. He is my dad and i visit him every weekend.What are my rights

First or in response to these answers i never call my mother names it was the lawyer i call b**** becuase she is.Second my mother is in PRISON.Im the only one there for him I spend time with my father when i can but i do have A JOB AND MY OWN MONEY.Please read my question slowly next time

Get an attorney when it comes to legal matters because without a will or living will your doomed. Since your Mother was found to be unfit to take care of him and the State takes over, you need to get an attorney and if your disposition is any better than your Mothers,. your doomed too~!!

Why are you concerned about how much money you're going to be in line for if/when your dad dies? It's big of you to visit him every weekend but how much quality time do you spend with him? How much do you do for him? Of course the lawyer isn't going to let you look into his affairs. He has a wife and she will be the next of kin if he dies. Get out and make your own money! Shame on you for calling your mother names. You don't have to agree with her; you don't have to think she makes good decisions; you don't even have to like her. But you need to honor her as the woman who gave you life. And honor your father's service to his country. Stop being so concerned about a few bucks.

Why are you concerned about where the money goes after your dad passes?? All you should care about is, that your father, a VIETNAM WAR HERO, is comfortable and is being well taken care of at all times!

your dad is in a nursing home and your worried about money? hes your father and a damn war hero and i know he loves you theirs only really one right you have and that is to spend as much time with him as possible before he leaves and i know you have this right because he gave it to you so that you didnt have to see or do the things he did just take care of your father because money can be gone in an instant but his love for you will never die
