An athiest mocking a Christian I can understand....
But isn't mocking those who christians would technically consider less fortunate (ie burn in hell for eternity) rather hypocritical?
Or is it that they are just not "true Christians" that mock those they supposedly believe will burn in hell for eternity? I believe in Jesus myself but I absolutely hate when other Christians ridicule and mock athiests, telling them to "burn in hell" or "do you not believe in god cause you were molested as a kid? (yahoo answer favorite)"....... You get the point.
Just seems like all Christians of all sorts should be more sympathetic...."Love they Neighbor as Thy Self."
Thanks.

Someone actually asked why I understand athiests mocking religion?
A) What is their reason not too? Cause its mean?
B) If Christians ("so called" Chrisitans or whatever you want to call them) don't serve as better role models to athiests then why should they be any better?

To MJQ - Mocking and ridiculing someone because of their beliefs doesn't change them, it insults them and makes them more steadfast in their beliefs, not to mention it diminishes any respect they had for that person or their beliefs and group in the first place.
Maybe when people mock you then you automatically change your beliefs but most people I know get offended by it unless proper reasoning and logic is used, not "your stupid" or "burn in hell."
And mocking spelling on the internet is stupid lol.

I agree 100%. Unfortunately, most of the people who get in here slamming atheists, gays, and other "sinners" don't seem to realize that they need to get their own houses in order. Maybe they don't have enough faith themselves to bother trying to encourage and teach others to convince them to change or at least see their point of view. I have noticed that most of the religious comments and answers in here show absolutely no thought or research on the part of those making the comments.
It is a sad state of affairs when the most intelligent questions and answers come from the very "sinners" the religious community likes bashing. Thank you for pointing this out, since it saves me the trouble.
Since someone is guaranteed to call me an atheist or something like that, allow me to say that I have my own beliefs I live by and what they are is no ones business but my own. That's between me and the power I believe in (whichever one that may be).
I believe MJQ just proved the point more eloquently than you or I ever could. Please forgive him for he obviously knows not what he does.

We mock what they say and think.
One atheist woman he said, definitvely and I quote:
Science has PROVEN GOD DOESN'T EXIST.
Anyone seen that proof? Anyone get a memo from the National Science Foundation about this? Have they published a white paper? Do they give their mathamatical proofs? Do they give their double blind experiments that can be repeated in other labs?
If the scientific community came here to Y/A they would FORMALLY dissavow themselves with these atheists, because 90% don't have any brains at all, never read a book and have no idea what they are talking about. They just shoot off at the mouth.
Atheists here are living proof that some humans were born without brains or at least never bought a set of Copper Tops to make them work right!
Yes, folks, SCIENCE has DEFINITIVELY PROVED THERE IS NO GOD.
I'm going to rub that one in the face of Atheists for the next 10 years.
And it comes from one of their own!
Now they have something to prove and let them prove it or shut up.

whether hell does exist, it ought to easily as particularly be the Muslim hell that christians will bypass to. You sound such as you're a christian by using terror of hell and that i think of it may be effective if people discovered sufficient approximately their faith to work out what's particularly taking place so as which you will loose your self from such oppression.

Yes I see your point,,we as Christains should show others what is different about being Christain..I do try hard to be kind and respectful to others..there are times when I have allowed my flesh to act out and do things that wouldn't be pleasing to Jesus..for that I am sorry..

There's a lot of them who are afraid of learning about atheism or are just flat out threatened by it. They would rather mock it instead of actually learning more about those who are atheists.

We just don't like to see you so stubborn and silly about learning the truth. That is all. We really love you but we won't put up with your ignorance and childishness. It is late and the time is far spent and what manner of men you should already be. But there you are stuck in the mud and the mire wollowing around in ignorance and sin. Get up, get out of that mess you are in and come to Christ before it is too late for you. Submitt to God learn his ways and let Him change your life. You'll be glad you did.

Funny -- some who think it's ok to belittle others' religious beliefs don't like it when the tables are turned. Just an example of "They can dish it out but can't take it."

I don't think they MOCK us [atheists] per se. Ridicule with ignorance or threaten that we're going to horrible imaginary places or preach to us that we need to be "saved" sure... but mock? What's there to mock? I can't mock a disbeliever in unicorns or Thor, etc. I can say "OOh... ooh, look at me! I don't believe in unicorns or Thor!" but is that really mocking? I rest my case.

"Love thy neighbour as thyself" means "want what is best for your neighbour, just as you would want what is best for yourself". It does not mean "have warm fuzzy feelings of liking for your neighbour and everything about him". It means wanting what's best for someone (even if you do not like him; even if he is your enemy). It does not mean being a nice push-over, either.
What good would it do to just be nice and sympathetic to someone that is doing wrong? It helps the wrong-doer more if he is aware of what is wrong. However, hypocrisy is wrong, as stated in Matthew 7:4:
"Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?"
You might cut down on mockery if you use the spelling "atheists" instead of "athiests".
lambeau_leap_2004: I am not advocating rudeness; I'm trying to point out that it is a false assumption of many people (and I'm not sure if you are one of them) to think that Christians are SUPPOSED to be nice push-overs that overlook the wrong-doings of others. Spellings: as far as I care, you can use whatever you want, even if it looks foolish; you missed my humour.
