You got me curious...i have a set of twins and this question made me very interested. I googled it! haha It says 1/3rd of twin births are identical twins, 1/3rd is boy/girl fraternal, and 1/3rd is same sex fraternal.....so that would make fraternal the most common. Now i just wonder if same sex twins or opposite sex twins are most common....i have twin sons. :-)

However I believe that that as a "natural" parent you have a 1 in 6400 chance of conceiving identical twins, that is an egg split.
Un identical twins happen when the female deposits two eggs and is genetic.

fraternal is. It is more likely that two eggs are released(fraternal) than one egg divides(identical) Interstingly enough it is fraternal and not identical twins that are genetic, although either can be freak accidents.

probably fraternal....they run in families. Identical twins are from a split egg and are considered a "fluke."
