i was thinking of getting a perm but would i still be able to straighten it with my flatiron every once in a while?

Yes, I have a perm and straighten my hair with a flat iron. I also use a Loreal straightening product. It says U use it with flat irons and heat activated products. They also have the product for U to use to curl your hair also

When I got a perm I was afraid to do anything with it but then my friend straightned it for me and it didnt damage my hair anymore and the perm stayed the same afterwards

yes. I have naturally curly hair and I use freeze ease straighener before I dry it. it looks naturally straight then with some body. I hate flat hair. Just never get a permanent straightener on permed hair because it burns it.

yes,you can do almost anything with your hair when you got a perm as long as you treat it and take good good care of it.
