HE WANTS YOU TO KISS HIS *** BECAUSE HE'S A LIFER AT THE COMPANY.

Most people who've been on jobs a long time try to test the newbies to see how strong they are.

1. He thinks you're attractive.
2. He's too much of a punk to ask a newbie out.
3. He's also a corporate echelon snob.
4. He has nothing better to do.

If he tries to ask you out, tell him you have a boyfriend. You don't need to lose your job, and your reputation over a butthole like that. He'd try to get info on you if you went out with him, then would try to embarras you.

He's one of the old familiar personality types: The two-facer/corporate snitch.

Sure you're there to get a paycheck, but it doesn't hurt to be on friendly terms with people. That doesn't mean you have to be friendly with him. There's probably been some talk about you, and he's just bold enough to confront you. People feel safer around people who are pleasant. It doesn't mean you have to have friendships per se, but just smile and say hello. Keep it light. It might be like another responder said: He's long term, and knows the turf, and feels threatened because you're a stranger in a friendly land. I'm sure you behave in a way which makes you feel safe, but people are social beings by nature, and a little mild sociability doesn't hurt. In fact, it can help, because people will have a higher regard for you. True, it's about the work, but it's also about getting along with others.

Sounds like he has noticed you and how you don't mess with anyone. You're like me when I go to work I'm there for a check and not to make friends. It really eats people up when they try to figure you out and can't. Ignore him....he just wants attention from you...to be the first one to break your shell. If he keeps up this behavior after you have completed you 90 days...it's call harassment(perhaps sexually)...take it up with management. No one should have to work with a jerk like that....there are laws against it specially for women.Don't let him run you off from your job!!!You don't have to kiss his azz to keep your job! He's not your boss. I've been at my job for 7 years without trying express people with acting fake and overly friendly...and yes I have made many friends because they respect the fact that I don't kiss azz.
