why change a healthy diet when you menstruate? Any weight gain is temporary bloating.

Listen to your body. Symptoms like cravings (for sweets) and a general feeling of fatigue are normal. This is a perfect time for you to slow down and give your body a "time out". If you usually jog for exercise, try walking. If you lift weights, add some light stretching or yoga (no inverted poses or twists, though). Eat as you normally would - physically it is not necessary to compensate - enjoy a small indulgence if you crave it, just don't go overboard and let your period become an excuse to overeat. P.S.: She may not care that much about "fitness" but she certainly cares about you - don't ever stop talking to your Mom.
