when looking for good healthy meal ideas stop and thik about the food that you enjoy... which are your favourite fruits and vegetables? What is your favourite meat? which is your favourite bread?

Aim for a minimum of 15 plants a day in your meals.... that is easy when you start your day with cereal use skim milk and add a few sultanas or other fruit and you have started right.

Remember to never stare yourself. A constant feeling of hunger throws your body into starvation mode which means your body will stop you burning calories and fat reserves... something you dont want to happen.. eat sufficient at each meal and eat regularly..

it is often a matter of you not eating enough rather than eating too much that adds weight simply because you eat on the run or eat a small amount of the wrong food hoping that will tide you over..

every day make sure there is one big meal that you spend time and energy preparing and cooking and really enjoy. Make food a pleasure. Take time to arrange the food on your plate in an attractive way and spend time enjoying the tastes and textures of your food.

stock your fridge with loads of fresh fruit and vegies. when you shop start at the fruit and vegie section and spend most of your money on the fruit and vegies you enjoy. Don't force your self to eat foods you dont enjoy instead find a similarly healthy food and eat it instead.

when making a salad sandwich try spreading an avocado on the bread instead of margarine or butter and then add whatever you like. Some vegies that we learnt to hate as kids because they were served soggy or cold or tepid and were mushy in our mouths can be quite a treat when eaten raw. Cauliflower and broccolli were my childhood horrors... but I love them really fresh and raw..

Try thinking of meat as a little treat smething to add some flavour to your fruit and vegies rather than the main part of the meal. A little meat with your favourite vegies is very healthy and really your tummy doesnt need to be slowed down trying to digest lots of meats...

by using meat as a flavourant rather than the basis of a meal you will find it cheaper to eat too.

one of my favourite meals is a half a grilled chicken breast cut up into a salad of a whole mixture of fruits and vegies.for dressing add a little fresh lemon juice salt and pepper and fresh crushed garlic... mmmmm very yum..

for dessserts try buying your very favourite fruit... mine is mango.. they are expensive but to treat myself to delicious mango really helps me to enjoy my food..

low fat yoghurt can be whipped up with fresh fruit and berries of your choice and frozen for a really nice cool dessert..

If you are presently used to sweet foods dont try and go cold turkey from sweet foods you will go nuts with sugar cravings...instead switch sugar for honey and reduce the honey gradually.. over a period of months..if you can get some farm fresh honey that is best as the processed honey loses all the natural goodness of antibiotics etc...

if between meals you get a real sugar craving then try a few grapes a banana or similar sweet fruit.. that you enjoy..

bread can be baked at home in a normal oven in a cake tin.... you dont need expensive gadgets or extra bits and pieces.. take time to learn to make bread from scratch and then take a lot of enjoyment in adding whole grains and other things you like in bread so that every sandwich you eat is full of lots of goodness and is just the way you like it..you will also know for sure how much sugar is in your bread..

learn to truly enjoy your meals and avoid all the premade and processed foods...

My personal favorite is to cut up one ripe banana into a bowl and add a cup of non-fat yogurt (any flavor). It fills me up and keeps me satisfied for a while and tastes sweet and delicious. You can use any fruit or even add a bunch of dry cereal like Corn Flakes or anything, and it's delicious.

Same with this one.... cut up a banana into a bowl of instant oatmeal. Heat the oatmeal and water until it's done then add the banana slices and you're good to go.

Crack two eggs but throw away the yolk and cook up the white and eat on top of some toast.

Pasta is another good one. Cook up your fave pasta, cook up some frozen veggies, drain them and mix them together. You can add a sprinkling of garlic salt and a dash of olive oil.

Or... you can make a light, lo-cal "alfredo" sauce for this by adding a dash of skim milk and some parmasean cheese and toss this with your pasta veggie. Delicious!

You can add some boneless chicken breast to this also. Cut up the chicken breast into strips or even small pieces and sautee in a skillet with a bit of olive oil.

chia seeds are high in protein and you can add them to a shake the aztec indians used to carry a little sachel around with them when they went on their journeys to keep them energised. Google them I have about a tablespoon sprinkled on my breakfast they don't have a taste just the crunchy texture. You could have some with every meal and snack to boost your protein intake.
