I was making breakfast one morning and I cracked open an egg. To my surprise the egg contained two yolks. I opened up another one and it was a double yolk. So curiosity got to me and I ended up opening the whole carton. Every egg of the dozen was a double yolk egg. Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

My dad's friend works at some sort of egg/chicken factory place. For some reason he always gives my dad eggs from the place and they are always double yolks. I really have no idea why he gives us just double yolks ones. Maybe they don't sell those. But for a long time growing up, I thought it was completely normal for an egg to have two yolks.

When I was pregnant with twins, I cracked an egg that ended up having a double yolk. It kinda freaked me out and I couldn't eat it. A double yolk would be the same as identical twins in humans.

no but i did open one that had a double yolk and the next one had a three yolk egg in it..i've never seen one. sometimes i think the checkers at the egg plants do this on purpose sometimes just for fun. you may want to save the carton though and look up the company to make sure they aren't running some contest and you've won a million bucks or something, i haven't heard of this but who knows. but save the carton until you find out as it would have the identifying codes on it somewhere....

I think you should get in contact with the company that supplied the eggs. They'd be just as interested in it as you are. I've seen quite a few double yolks in my time, but nothing like that. Something is obviously going on.

Yes, every now and then I will crack open a egg and it will have a double yolk. It's not that uncommon but I have never cracked all of the eggs just because one had a double yolk.

It happens quite often in nature and has nothing to do with steroids or chemicals. It's unusual to find a whole carton of double yokers unless they were sold as such. Most of the double yokers are screened out when the eggs are "candled" during grading.
Most double yokers would be graded as 'extra large' or "extra extra large'.
I have also heard that they are lucky, but only if you find one by chance. i.e in a carton of ungraded eggs bought from a farmer
or chicken /egg producer. Not if you buy them on purpose.

yah i had cracked a few double yolks eggs before, but never one after another. And there is a chinese old folk myth that says if you ate that egg with the dbl yolk, you will have twins in future. haha

I have only had it happen a couple of times where 1 egg in the dozen was a double yoke. But when we had our own chickens i found that it happened more often.

Two egg yoks are more common then we think you can even buy double egg yolk. They pass the egg throught a light to seach for double yoks. So you bought a dozen double egg yoks
