2 years ago I straightened my hair. I had really pretty long thick spiral curls but i wanted to try straight. Of course I liked it and baught a flat iron and straightened my hair everytime i went out. Now I realize that I dont have half as much hair as i did two years ago and im sure its because of the damage im doing. I want to go curly again but when i let it air dry, it only gets nappy, not curly and not straight. Should I perm it and get the same kind of curls as my natural hair and just let it grow out? What is my best bet?

Yes you are right you fried your hair trying to make it straight all of the time. You don't need to get a perm you need to get a layer cut and some gel especially for curly hair and let the damage work out of your hair slowly by getting or doing weekly conditioning treatments and regular trims . If your hair is naturally curly it will still curl up like it used to when the straightening grows out. Getting a perm will only damage it further. Ya see when you straightened it chemically all of the molecules in your hair shaft lined up in a straight line and you locked them like that with the neutralizer, then you have been ironing them into that pattern of being straight with more heat and it may take a while to get them back into their natural pattern. Be patient But getting the fried ends off will make a huge difference.

Perming your hair again will just damage it more. Have you tried putting scrunching gel in your hair? I would say let your natural hair grow out.

Try CURLS UP from FX Professional. You can get it at any Walgreens, Wal-Mart, etc.
