GET HIM TO A MAJOR SUPPLY OF VEGIMITE LIKE RIGHT NOW !!! THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL CURE THIS TRAGEDY !!! You know that with no accent-- he's citizenship will then be in question---and he could wind up being without a country to call home until he adapts a lingo !!
(And I did say Lingo -- not Dingo (he won't have to go out and adopt a wild dog !!) )

Depends on his age, really, and accent acquisition also really varies from individual to individual. Some kids in his situation could go to Australia and it would come back, but for others it wouldn't. If a month or two back in Australia doesn't help it come back, it's probably gone for good.

The biggest influence on one's accent isn't parents -- for most language learners, it's their primary peer group around age 10. (I said most, not all!)

Sad to hear the loss off his accent. I married a man from Oz and I'm sure it had something to do with his accent. :) Then again, it didn't last... maybe the accent attraction wasn't enough to sustain a relationship? :)

Haha. the only way for him to get his austrailian accessory back is to spend time back in australia, it will come back to him. He ought to be surrounded by employing different people who communicate with the accessory before he possibilities up on it lower back, in simple terms like he picked up on the minnesota accessory.
