My daughter turned ten in in September, and she has asked me about shaving her legs. The hair is rather thick and dark. I know none of her friends shave yet, but I was wondering if it would be O.K. if she started out with an electric razor first. I know I was twelve before I started. Any mothers out there going through this same dilemma?

My mom made me wait until I was 14. And yeah, the hair can get "thick and dark" for a girl, there is no point in shaving before then. Why? Are her legs going to be rubbing against anyone elses? I certainly should hope not at her age!

There isn't a point in having her shave before she is a bit older. Let her be a little girl for as long as possible. I wanted to shave when I was like 9 or 10 too, but my mom made me wait, and after about 3 months of shaving I wished I could stop again. It's like wearing a bra. Cool at first, but then it's just annoying. And no one should be looking at her in a sexual way right now, so what is the point of allowing her to shave?

Go through the list:
Why does she need to shave?
Is she sexual? NO
Is she an outcast if she doesn't? NO
Is there a health reason she should? NO

For God's sake, stop trying to make little girls into little teenagers. It's bad enough when Abercrombie and Fitch start making thong panties designed to fit 10 year olds. For what? Why does she need a thong? To hide panty lines? Why is she wearing pants that tight at her age, and why is anyone going to be looking at her backside.

Let girls be girls as long as they can. I know I rambled, but please, for your daughter's sake do not let her grow up to fast. She'll be happier later if you hold her back in some areas now. I know I am with my mom.

This is difficult only because you dint want them to grow up to fast but i will tell you that i let my daughters start shaving at 11 or so they had really thick unattractive hair you definitely want to teach them how to be women . So if you feel it is making her self esteem low let her shave her legs the worse that can happen is razor burn or a few minor cuts. Good luck

If it is bothering her, I would let her shave with an electric razor. It is really hard to be made fun of in school for such things, especially something that can be fixed so easily. It will not do any harm for her to shave. Kids seem to be maturing so much quicker than when I was a child.

Hmmm, this is a tuff one, Use to be jr. high was the start time but
girls are maturing so much sooner now. I think I would have a long talk first, what is harder having hairy legs or being the first to shave?
Maybe she could use that cream stuff to start. Wow what a great question, good luck with it , maybe let your daughter give the answer

If she is self wakeful approximately it then sure, i could enable her. i replaced into approximately 9 and in 5th grade and each of something of the girls have been allowed to shave their legs or perhaps although we've been all of the comparable age, I felt youthful and inferior. that comparable 12 months in college, my mom concept my cousins(10 yrs older) females basketball shorts could do nice, instead of paying for for me new girly shorts that greater healthful me. So no longer in basic terms did I even have furry legs yet i replaced into caught donning shorts that appeared like boys shorts. That 12 months sucked none the less. I had a instructor that harrassed me. So after that, no longer in basic terms did I go away with a inferiority complicated yet ive struggled in math ever considering. So please do no longer placed your daughter for the duration of the sensation of "no longer setting up in" or embarrasment from physique hair. She would not could be dealing with that at this age, she has her teenager years for that. Do stuff like nair or however or show her a thank you to shave with a razor. And if she nicks herself, nicely shes going to try this no rely how lots adventure she has. I nevertheless do on occasion and ive been shaving for 10 years.

If the hair is thick and dark, she probably could go ahead and start shaving. Kids can be cruel, and some of her classmates may decide to make fun of her for that. I don't think it will hurt her, and if she has asked to, perhaps she is uncomfortable with the hair on her legs.

If her hair is thick and dark on her legs, I would probably let her start shaving her legs. It would be embarrasing to go out in shorts or a swim suits with thick, dark hair on her legs! Think about it!

I would say let her shave as soon as you know it is very noticeable and she knows it is---an please do it before she starts to get made fun of! An electric razor would prob be alright to start off with first, just make sure it isnt epilady ( that feels like tweezers on your legs)..... or you could let her use nair --although that never really worked for me, they might be better now.....
There is a new shaver I do like, and it has the soap bar around the blade...I found it is practically impossible to cut yourself!!!!
Girls are going through puberty earlier than before!!!! It is scary, isn't it?

You should know that shaving is only going to make her hair grow back in thicker and darker. I personally think that 10 is too young to shave. Shaving is a means of being attractive to the opposite sex. Isn't it? So, why would you want your 10 year old daughter to make herself attractive for guys? She's 10! She needs to be an innocent child for as long as possible. I would hold off on the saving for at least a couple more years.
