Ok my sister loves taking pictures of people and kids and all and she's really good at it. She knows how to set the background. What colors look good on ya and the whole yards. And she has gotten to the point that she has her camera where ever she goes. And takes pictures of everything and everyone. Well people realy like the pictures and everyone ask her to take pictures for them of whatever. How much should she charge??? Or how can she make a priceing chart?????

Your sister's pricing could depend upon a number of things, especially at this stage.

Depending upon what type of photography she might get into and how good she is will ultimately determine what she can charge, but here's some good advice.

Try and make $100 on your first couple of jobs. If the shots are good, they're getting a good deal and your sis is getting exposure. Your sis will get an idea of what the costs are and the way she wants to structure her business.

If she gets serious, I would suggest offering packages to clients. Prints are cheap to make and can pull in some revenue.

Once she's done a few and has a better idea where she would like to go, she'll be better prepared to do so. She could go commercial or she could do weddings. Or, if she's good like you say, she can "push the limit" with some of her clients and produce some images that really set her apart as an artist.

Bottom line, I think your sister should try and make a hundred bucks for an amateur going pro photo shoot. As she's successful, she can ramp up the price. If she's really good, she could trade studio time with a modeling agreement and sell some of these photos.

Good luck!

How much are other photographers in her area charging?
How does her work compare with theirs?
What would her actual costs be--in prints, in CDs, equiptment?
How much would she like to make for her time--$5 or $50 per hour?
Do the math to find out what is worth her valuable time.
She shouldn't sell herself too cheaply just because she's a beginner. As you say, she has skill already.
Most photographers do start out doing a few things on the cheap to build a portfolio, but know where you need to be.

At the beginning let her start with for example:

10 poses on CD for $25.00
25 poses on CD for $55.00
and 50= poses at $50 per hour, plus any outside expenses like for travel to localtion eic.

Pros charge an hourly rate "from portal to portal" meaning that is from place of business (home) to location.

Plus she should look into selling stock photos... get here the book,"Photographer's Market 2007" for leads and how to's.

I got a picture (single photo) taken and they charge me 5bucks.If you have the picture that develops right away like a Polaroid photo you could do that.If i was a customer i would not want to wait more than 5-ten Min's for a picture to take home.So if she can do that then i would say 5bucks for 5x7 photo. You always see someone doing photos at Xmas for family &kids it is a really good idea but if people had to wait for you to send away to devolpe then no they would rather have the picture with in 5-10 mins of getting it taken.

One million dollars! You won't haver to take many before you can retire in style! Otherwise, you'll probably have to match prices that place like the local Wally Mart does them for until you establish a reputation. Then you can raise your prices closer to those of the local Professional Studio nearest you.

supplies and costs...
