I have a 7yr old little boy who got an aquired brain injury in a car accident when he was three. He now has a numerous amount of problems although when others look at him they can't tell he has a brain injury. I have now been with a man for about a year and he now knows about my sons injury. My mother has been receiving books on brain injuries and how to help a child who has got one and she has been giving them to us to read and learn from. I am definately going to read them but my new partner says he has amway books to read. What should I do to get him to read the books which I think are more important than amway books?

Your first duty is to your son and his medical needs, if your partner that you have been with for a year is not cooperating with you or sees the need that is there maybe he needs to move on, once you are in a relationship with someone who has kids, you have to adapt to the situation . Whats the deal with the amway books ?

I agree with Gypsy and Martha. I think he's made his choice now. Obviously your feelings are hurt by his reaction and it may be a good thing to ask him to elabotate. Tell him it hurt your feelings and you don't understand why he won't read them and be respectful of his right to choose what he reads. It may be as simple as he feels you will fill him in on what the books say. I think the books may offer some insight to help you find the answer that's right for you in dealing with this situation.

I really can't add to what Gypsy said she's right on the money.
