Well, a guy I dated and broke up with two years ago got me a Christmas gift. Now, it's fairly obvious that he still has feelings for me and I have none for him, but I still feel obligated to get him a gift in return.

So, what gift can I get him that says "hey, let's be friends but only friends"? What can I get him without leading him on?

You are not obligated to get him anything. Thank him for the gift, tell him he "shouldn't have" and enjoy it.

Being relegated to the "Friend Zone" is tough on guys, but you owe this guy nothing.

A book, a CD, a DVD any kind of generic gift you would get for a friend. No sappy songs or romantic comedies. What's even better is a gift certificate. It shows some thought and he can't really read into that. Good luck!

I would send the gift back with a polite note stating exactly how you feel - that you want to remain friends, but that is all. To keep the gift would send a wrong message, Better to hurt his feelings now than lead him on.

If you are not interested in him DON'T get him anything!! cause he will get the wrong idea, He probably brought present s to he's other ex's too since he had 2 years to play around.so you may not be the only one he gave a gift too for Christmas. So just let that go!!

A card that says "hey, let's be friends but only friends".
Honesty is best and a real gift would give him the false impression that you're still interested in him. He threw you some bait...he's waiting for your reaction.
Good luck!

If you feel obligated, then don't give him a gift. Friends don't feel obligated to get friends gifts. However, I would give him your gift back so that he won't feel that you owe him anything.

Get him something very impersonal. Like chocolate or socks. He will get the point that you are not interested, although I wouldn't get him anything at all. There is too much risk of being misinterpreted.

This you do at your own risk.If you are determined to break it off then you would not go buying him gifts.

nothing.

he's your EX.

you broke up for a reason, so getting back together would be stupid.

by giving him nothing you send a clear message you arent interested.

wait till he gets over you, then talk to him?
