what was your base color? was it your natural color or did you have tint on it before the black? to strip color, you can go to a Sally's or beauty supply and buy Loreal Effersol haircolor remover and follow package directions. comes in a little envelope for about $5. i would buy 2 or 3 for shoulder length hair or shorter, you may need to do it more than once and if you have thick hair you need to use it all and make sue hair is saturated with the products. smells horrible. use the warm water option for about 20 minutes. rinse and shampoo. at that point you should be back to wear you started, and can re color or leave it.

if it's a permanent coloor please codition your hair weekly..use a booster in your next coloring to bring up the color..do not alow it to stay on the maximun time unless you have coarse hair ..but if you can afford it go to a stylish and let them color it for you..good luck!
