I have noticed that many questions and answers about religion and spirituality are quite antagonistic. Do you think that we might be able to discuss things rationally, logically and unemotionally if the wording is more civil? Or are people so bigoted that all we can expect is ranting?

It's always hard to pull out of a spin. The main reason being: Let's say YOU decide to be "more civil". You're "more civil" for, say, a couple of weeks. After that time, you don't really notice a lot of change in the other players. You finally decide "heck, this ain't working"...so you revert to your earlier behavior. Others notice (just as THEY were about to be "more civil") and then decide it was all a ploy. The then continue in the uncivil behavior. It's a LOT like the end of a marriage where both people are sniping at each other, saying the other one "started it". Neither side wants to turn the other cheeks. Unfortunately, it's human behavior.
So, reality is reality. We have uncivil attitude to look forward to.

Well no matter how polite you are, there will always be rude people. Once in a very polite letter to the editor, someone said my wish was that we launch Crusades and burn people at the stake. Naturally that is really upsetting when I'm simply talking about how the morality of Christ exemplary because he taught love, forgiveness and humility.
I would say though that the more decent and civil a question is the more decent and civil answers you will get, but again there will always be people who just are bitter mockers, no matter how polite you are, and these impolite people are in every religion, every political party, every race, every culture, etc. It is just human nature.

Yes. The answer is yes.
The world was once a better place, humans were once nicer and more civil beings. These days, we are too caught up in society and speeding through life to realize the way things should be done. It's good to see that others can feel the same way.

There are certin people who have the ability to answer questions in a logical, well-thought-out answer which may actually benefit the asker. Others, whom I don't really care to point out, feel that their way of life is worth yelling at people for.
I have a tendency to tell it like it is. I get lots of thumbs-downs for it, but then people have to come to realize that there are people out there who really don't give two flying doughnut holes about a person's sincerity in a question. Thus is the reason I have come to be very careful when I ask a question.

Civil questions will get more civil answers, but most of them will still be dogmatic and antagonistic.
