Recently Democratic Party activist Carla Vela equated laws and roundups of illegal aliens to Germany in the 1930s when Nazis were systematically rounding up Jews and sending them to concentration camps to be slaughtered. Is she right? Is this just an exaggeration? Should people tell her she is wrong?

She's very wrong and she should be slapped upside the head for even comparing those things.
She shouldn't even call herself a democrat. Or a liberal.

If she truly did equate one with the other, then this Carla Vela is wrong, and I do not agree with her. This kind of statement is a 'shock statement' (remember the 'Saddam Hussain was worse than Adolph Hitler' statement?) designed to get the listener's ears, but not their minds. If such is the case, Carla needs to take a few months off from her 'activism' and read up on the Nazi confinement, enslavement, and extermination of the Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Communists, Anti-Facists, Russian POWs, etc.

The Jews were German citizens, not people who had come in illegally and therefore quite naturally would be returned from where they came when caught breaking the law.
When charges of racism don't make you back off, the next charge on the list of terms designed to freeze conversation is 'nazi-ism'.
Neither one applies here.

I'm a Democrat and people like this are an embarrassment to the majority of Democrats out there. She cheapens the Holocaust and makes us look like loonies. I hope she just disappears into the sunset - or at least keeps her mouth shut when pretending to represent "Democrats" in general. What a toad.

She gives ALL Democrats a bad name.
And that is saying a lot.
By her comparison of illegal immigration to the Nazi treatment of Jews she cheapens all further arguments. And paints Democrats as loons. The Democratic Party and its members should ask for a rebuttal and for her to apologize to the Jewish people.
But it isn't going to happen in this lifetime......

I do think it's an exaggeration. If people want to come to this country with the idea of living here, they need to do it legally. The US has welcomed people from all countries and all walks of like, but we also have to be careful of who we let into our country. We don't want criminals, psychopaths, sociopaths, etc. We also don't want people coming to this country with the intention of committing terrorist type crimes against it. I see no problem with our immigration service rounding up illegal immigrants and investigating them and sending them back to their respective country. If you want to live here, they need to do it correctly and legally.

I dont think its the same at all. Were rounding up illegals and sending them back to there own country. Not killing them by the hundreds.

It's not exactly the same, but it's the attitude that is congruent. The arguments of culture destruction, job stealing, civil harm, etc. are the same that are used against immigrants today that were used against Jews back in the 1930's.
