Why? Just go to the pound and rescue a dog. Anyone claiming to breed miniature St. Bernard's is a back yard breeder at best.
And before you revise your post to say.. yes it is a breed - understand that the dog is only a true breed if it is recognized by the AKC. Otherwise, it's a mutt or in this case, poorly bred - the runt to the runt to the runt until the 'miniature' size is acheived.
Think of it this way - if you bred the smallest person to the smallest person in order to perpetuate the smallest living person on the planet -- how healthy would those children be in the subsequent generations?
Think about it before you go choosing something for it's diminutive size. If you want a small dog, get a small dog, but don't buy a large dog that's been weakened by poor breeding to satisfy your purse puppy fantasies. And if you do decide to invest in one of these animals, be sure you have a LOT of money on hand for when those genetic defects kick in down the line.
Sorry to put it that way, but that's the reality of shrinking everything so it'll fit into a Prada bag. Sad isn't it?

why? either you want a st. bernard or not. if you are getting a miniature version of this dog it's is probably generations of inbreeding and poor quality dogs. if you want a smaller breed investigate websites and learn about a breed whose size and characteristics fit what you are looking for. or go to the shelter and find a st. bernard mix that is smaller.
go ahead and look at larry's site, those are mixed breed dogs.

That link Larry posted is just pure crazy. These people are breeding different dog breeds over and over, "to make a new breed". Then they are selling the mutt puppies for $700.00 each.

I know, it's sad they don't have any. They are such beautiful dogs with interesting personalities but are just too huge for my backyard. But I think it would be better this way, they are known for their appearance and that's how they are naturally. Imagine a mini german shephard! I don't think anyone would see that coming.. (I've always wanted one of them seeing as we don't have the yard for it!)
