I'm sure plenty of kids do that, just like plenty adults do that.

All kids do that and plenty of adults as well.
It has to do with seeing the world from your own point of view only. For kids this is understandable and part of the growing up process.
For adults, well I guess some never "grow up" to understand that there are other viewpoints.
Either way it has nothing to do with honesty or dishonesty.
Don't be so critical and try to see things from his viewpoint.
If he likes something he thinks everyone else will like it too.
Nothing dishonest about that! Anyway it's the thought that counts!
Personally I prefer his viewpoint.

Sure they do and it's not dishonest. They are being totally honest because they like it and think the reicipient does too. It's just the age and stage of development they are in.
