Yes, you can. Your symptoms that you have when you have strep (fever, inflammation) are your body's attempts to cure itself. However, if your immune system is weak, it will take longer to recover. You need to treat yourself with rest. If your symptoms continue to worsen, your immune system might be compromised to the point where it would be dangerous to attempt to recover without antibiotics. Before antibiotics were invented, people recovered from infections like strep without them. However, some also probably died from strep due to being weakened. Obviously, if you try to recover without antibiotics, you want to "quarantine" yourself so you don't transmit the infection to others.

You might get better but the strep will still be there.
Get treated. Strep has some dangerous effects on other parts of the body, like your heart.
Left untreated, it can reoccur frequently and spread to other members of your household.

It is possible to recover, just like from any other bacterial infection, without antibiotics. There is a risk, however, of developing rheumatic fever, which will cause joint pain (think rheumatic arthritis) and possible heart valve scarring. The risk is relatively rare, however, please read at www.cdc.org.

As for contagion, antibiotics do reduce the amount of time you are contagious, so if you choose not to use antibiotics, please be considerate of others and isolate yourself until your fever is gone (without using analgesics, of course).

No you cannot! If you leave strep infections untreated they can turn into scarlet fever, rheumatic fever, scarlatina etc. I got strep once, didn't treat it and got scarlet fever. My dad had it as a child, they were poor so it never got treated and he got rheumatic fever and it caused his heart to enlarge to the point he had to have surgery about 10 yrs ago to correct it

You can. The antibiotics help you to recover slightly faster and reduce the risk of spreading strep throat to others. Drink plenty of liquids, lots of vitamen C and get plenty of sleep and you'll be able to recover on your own. Hope you feel better! (assuming that you're the one that's sick).

You can if you gargle several times a day with warm salt water (or baking soda and water) followed by Listerine and water. If there is no improvement in a few days, you need to see a doctor.

I don't believe that you can, and if left un treated strep can lead to many dangerous complications such as scarlett fever.

I wouldn't screw around not getting antibiotics. My late wife wouldn't go to the doctor for it and it affected the valves in her heart. See a doctor and take care of it,,, NOW!!!!!!!!!!
