I can tell you from experience, I weighed at one point 176, started Weight Watchers, lost 20 pounds in 12 weeks, and for the most part, have kept the majority off since then. It's a really easy diet to do, you can eat literally anything you want as long as you cut your portions in half and watch the number of points you consume....not hard at all.

The best diet is one you can follow! If Atkins is easy for you, do it, same for WW, The Zone, South Beach, etc... They all are based on reduced calories (even Atkins, because even though you don't weigh or measure your food, you should keep yourself from over-indulging from limiting your food choices). Pick something that you will be able to follow, add a moderate amount of exercise, and the weight should slowly but surely come off.

no such thing bro... without proper exercises all diets fail to keep the pounds off for good. and its a fact that you need a healthy balance of all the major food groups to stay at an optimal level of health... they are called yo-yo diets for a reason...because when you lose the weight you want you start to eat normal again and gain back the weight

Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Find out about fastest way to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs, water retention and secret trick used by models to flatten their tummy before an event.
Reading a book will take you hours but the information on a post, taking minutes to read, is not enough. The webpage below has just enough to know what you need to know. Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are (teens plug in your age to compare to others your age). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

www.weightwatchers.com. Find a meeting or use their site online. They're the only method proven to lose weight. Also go to the national weight control registry, http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/dnpabmi/Calculator.aspx, where they have tips from people who have lost significant amounts of weight and kept it off.

Exercise often (3x a week or more) and take regular and small but enjoyable meals. Don't indulge in fats and sweets every day, only on occasion (they taste better that way).
Adding more fiber and water into your diet can help A LOT.

Exercise. Weight train. Muscle burns more than fat, so if you have more muscle mass, then you burn more calories. Diets don't keep weight off, because they lower your metabolism, and you'll just get the weight back as soon as you are off it.

Eat small portions, cut down you sweets, fried foods, and food with a lot of fat intake, and increase your fruits and vegetables intake. Do not sleep right after you eat, and exercise daily for at least 45 minutes. Good luck. Visit this nutrition site for more information:
