While going to a work meeting in another State, I met a girl I really liked and asked her out. She said she wasn’t ready to date but she just left a serious relationship but she said she was really attracted to me. We exchanged numbers.

A week later she called me and asked if I was dating anyone special. I said no. She said she wanted to call me once in a while. She usually calls once a week and we talk about work and what is happening in our lives.

A month later she finally tells me she likes me and she wants me to come visit but then says its not like we can go out together because we lived so far away.

Why should I go see her if she says we can't go out together?

I'm thinking she's thinking, "let's have our fling even though we know this can't go anywhere".

How you react to that is totally up to you: If you're into this girl, or you're just curious what it would be like to be with her, then go. Just be honest with yourself about the prospects. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that just because you spend a couple good days together things will magically change. If you can't do that, or you aren't interested on those terms, don't go.

On the other hand, it's possible one of you will decide this is it for you and you'll need to find some way to deal with the geography. Lots of couples endure distance, at least for a while.

If you are looking to date and she isn't, don't waste your time. If you are cool with being friends with her then go for it but don't get your hopes up in case she maintains her thoughts of not dating because of distance.

That is a good question! I had to read it twice. I wonder if she is running scared. She made all the right advances, but now you have shown an interest. That rots..

long distance relationships almost always fail unless one of the two is willing to move. lot's of great women live in your area i am sure so go for them.

She's probably just trying to do the "friends" thing. I would stay clear of that cuz you will be the only one getting hurt...

First of all, you could just be friends for a while. Secondly, you could always move!
