If your doctor says your not over weight then you should listen. Don't worry about what others think.

For your fitness level, no, that's a totally normal weight! Muscle weighs a lot more than fat, and that's the big factor here. You SHOULD weigh more than them if you're that active! The thing is, it's not really that helpful to compare yourself against them -- what's important is how fit and healthy you are (and it sounds like the answer to both those questions is VERY!) It doesn't matter what the number on the scale is, as long as you feel good about yourself. And hey, considering that people don't think you weigh as much as you do, that means that you carry that weight very well -- and it's not flabby weight, it's muscle weight, which looks GOOD! :) Keep on keepin' on, sister, and feel good about that active body!

Another one falling into the weight issue. your 13 at 134 for pounds? Your fine! especially if people don't call you fat and i know you feel insecure about your weight but really, its nothing! your fine, I mean my " relative" ( don't wanna say her name) is 135 pound, around ur weight and shes 10. she has a HUGE stumack, i mean its like HUGE, and shes not overweight, shes just really really heavy, your fine, your 5'2 you say? , just tell yourself that your beautiful and weight doesn't matter. As long as you see yoruself as a nice person, If you play alot of sports, that's probably some muscle too! lol when you grow up, according to your genes, ( your physical traits form your mom and dad) you'll most likely thin out or be the same, but to be over weight, you would have to sit on the couch for 3495734985 years and eat nothing but FAT FAT FAT FAT foods, don't worry! I'm a guy and when i was 14 i had that same problem, there was a mcdonlads next to my school adn i'd always go there and eat. WORST thing to do, i wasn't in any sports, ( expcept marching band) and i can feel the pounds coming on, i felt like i was overweight compared to my friends, but after about 3 weeks of feeling bad for myself off and on, i noticed my friends were SKINNY AS TWIGS and i was acutally normal and i had some muscle! so i quit eatin gmcdonalds after i moved and started working out. and i feel great lol i'm a little heavy for my height, ( 5'8 165, but i'm not fat or anything, its just muscle! thatnks marching band lol Don't feel dbad about yourself, no matter what anyone says, your normal, your an awesome person, and your definantly incontrol of your body weight. Plz take this advice seriously, oh yeah, and next time u compare your weight to other girls, just look how skinny there arm are and there legs, CHICKEN LEGS! lol i mean don't call them that but i bet there pretty skinny! my friends back when i was 14 were pretty skinny like u can see there bones and everything lol make yourself feel better, in apositive way of course! Later Gater

No, you are not overweight. As long as you are participating in sports and are healthy don't worry about it. I was skinny as a teenager in the seventies. Believe me, it was not the thing to be back then. I spent years and years being miserable because I was thin, even though I still received attention from the fellas. I couldn't be happy about anything in my life because I would be like, "but I am skinny", as though that was all that mattered. Now, I am almost 50 and just put on enough weight to be a size 4. I look back on the years of self doubt over being thin, something I could not control whatever I tried, and think of what a waste it was. Love yourself and to tell the truth, when I was going through my teenage years, I wanted the body of an athlete. Thank God for making you who you are and move on!

Go to this calculator and put in your information: http://apps.nccd.cdc.gov/dnpabmi/Calculator.aspx.
Right now, you sound healthy, and you should keep up your sports, and muscle does weigh more than fat. However, you should make an effort to eat healthy foods and avoid junk foods like chips and sweets. The number on the scale is less important when you're athletic and you're still growing, but you may be at risk of being unhealthy if you drop the sports. Try to spend less time comparing yourself to others, and focus on what you're good at.

We live in a weigt crazy time. We now realize that what you weigh is not necessarily an indication of good health. Look at all the skinny people with eating disorders. If you are active and your MD says you are okay then try not to think about it.
I'm really sorry that your dad made you feel bad. I hope you talk to him or your mom and let them know how you feel.
Good luck.

dont worry about the scale, the mirror is what tells the story, and most of all how your feel. Your Dr. is right, muscle weighs a lot more than fat, its composed of 75% water as well. you sound to be very muscular so you can expect to weigh more than the twigs you are describing. you sound like you are at a very healthy balance. Dont worry about what the scale says.. every body is unique, you got it goin on! keep it up!

I'm also 5'2". The ideal weight for our height is 110. But muscle weighs more than fat. Don't compare yourself to other girls. Being tiny isn't always wonderful. (I'm 20 and only 100 lbs.)

weight doesnt mean a thing. you'll know if your overweight if you have trouble keepin up in your sports. girls that are in power lifting may be the same height as girls in cross country but weigh twice as much. doesnt mean they are outta shape, they are still physically fit, they just need more muscle
