They are painful and get a (head) on them and pop then end up scarring. Does anyone know what these are and maybe knows a treatment that can help. Should I get a second opinion?

I completely understand, My best suggestion is to go to a Dermotologist, skin specialist and an antibiotic can be prescribed. I was told that we can get a form of staff infection in our skin and it can spread causing it to not heal correctly without it. (See link below also has great tips-even tho it's 4 teens great info). They can also provide a good antibacterial wash (prescription) that can help the area stay clean.

I would suggest upping your water intake (1/2 your body weight in ounces: ex: 200 pd = 100 oz (8 glasses of water a day)
Start walking & cut down your high calorie foods and help get that body healthier - after all makes you feel better too.
Be sure to use hot compresses or hydrogen peroxide to draw out the puss than Squeezing just spreads it. And cover it with a bandage til it heals.

Small tip if you can is perhaps wearing some soft biker shorts under clothing...it helps prevent the skin on skin rubbing. And hang in there...it can get better.

i get them too in various places. i have never been told it was because i am overweight. if your legs are rubbing together try wearing loose, breathable clothing and keep the area as clean and dry as possible. boil-ease is a drawing sauve that will help bring them to a head sooner so that they can heal faster. it's black and tar-like and kind of nasty but it works. good luck

There's a black salve that's supposed to be really good for drawing out the infection. You can go to any pharmacist and ask them what's good for that. A good way to prevent them is to keep the area most prone to them clean and dry as often as possible and try to prevent sweating or chaffing.

I had one on my stomach and the doctor at the hospital says one gets them because of infection inside your body. You should visit your doctor so he/she can prescribe penicillin. Antibiotics will only get rid of the infection but not cure it like pencilin.
