A few things to keep in mind when deciding on a dog food:

1. No corn or wheat - a lot of dogs are alergic to these 'fillers' and they have little or no nutrient value. They just make the dog feel full. Bad news. Also, corn doesn't digest so you'll be picking up once it cycles through your dog.

2. No 'meat' or 'meat by-products' - if the food doesn't say chicken or turkey or salmon and just says 'meat' that's very bad news. "Meat" can be ANYTHING - even euthanized dogs ground up and included in your dog food - YUK! "Meat by-products" are even worse.

3. "XX Meal" is ok - Chicken Meal, etc. is okay, as is barley and rice, but the first couple ingredients should be pure protien - Chicken, Turkey, Lamb.

Also remember a lot of behavioral issues stem from a lack of proper nutrition so you really will save yourself and your dog a lot of time and hastle by buying quality food.

Iams, Purina, Eukanuba, Science Diet -- those are the McDonalds, Taco Bell, Wendys & Pizza Hut of dog foods. They might fill them up but it will be lacking.

Our trainer recommended - Artemis, Wellness, & Innova. Innova has a kibble that is formulated as closely to a 'raw' diet as possible. They also make wonderful Innova Evo bisquits.

Good luck!

go to petco and get organix, nutro, solid gold, natural balance...there are also good brands called blue buffalo and wellness which are good main thing is to read the ingredients, if corn is in the first 3 ingredients dont buy it. a meat should be the first ingedient such as chicken, beef, etc.
more expensive usually means better quality but always read ingredients!

We just started our dogs on Nutro. High quality food, costs more, but they eat less of it and poop less. They guarantee it to improve the skin and coat.

The type of dog food that is best for your dog, is the one that you choose. Either of the above are equally as good.

Purina, Science Diet, Diamond brand. Since it is a puppy, you should have it on a puppy formula since it is higher in the nutrients that young, growing dogs need.
