My cousin just had her baby two-months premature. While she is in the hospital with her we are watching her english bulldog. This dog shows aggressive and dominant behaviors. Would this be a good dog for her to keep when she brings the baby home?

Does the dog show aggressive behavior toward it's owner? We have a 2 year old male English Bulldog. He has never showed aggession to any of us. We also have a 6 and 10 year old. They also have friends over all the time. The kids have fallen over the dog. They have sat on him. We have a 6 month old kitten who gets very rough with him playing. He just gets up and walks off. We know others who have English Bulldogs. I have never known of an English Bully to be aggressive. Although if ours ever got aggressive he would not stay here. We would make sure he had a home that wasn't around children. He does not like strangers at the house or around the house.

The dog should never be left alone with the baby, and the parents should always place themselves between the baby and the dog when they are in a room together. If the dog shows any aggression toward the baby, then they should find the dog a new home without children, or without small children.

I would be careful with any type of dog that has to suddenly put up with a new baby in the house, especially when that dog got all the attention.

your cousing should send a blanket home that the baby was in so the dog can get use to the smell of the baby and won't be so surprised when baby comes home. Dog may not take to baby and may have to be given up poor doggy.

any aggressive behavior wether protecting the baby or not is not acceptable in any dog, let alone one around a child. if this dog shows aggressive tendancies i would have a professional trainer work with this dog immediatly! as a general rule no dog should ever be left unsupervised with a child, this situation will beg for trouble.

i hope dirtfire is not refering to the bulldog breed in general as a breed to not have around a baby. any dog can be dangerous and any dog can be well trained and socialized and not a danger.

Depends on who it is aggressive towards.
If it protects the baby then that is a good thing but if not they might have to get rid of it.

HELL NO !!! get rid of the dog immediately, that's no kind of dog to have anyway, much less around a baby! take the damn thing to the pound and tell her it ran away or something
