Well Rosie,
There is no such thing as a dumb question. There is no restriction on carrying colognes on flights!!! I don't have any reference pages that may be useful to you, but I have traveled on international flights a couple of times and they have restrictions only on food products and on other dangerous items like explosives etc. They also have certain restrictions (on international flights) on carrying gold/silver which can be smuggled out or items like laptops and other electronic goods which are applicable to taxes and other charges. Also, there is usually a strict restriction on the amount of luggage one can carry (2 suitcases of some restricted maximum weight each and one carry-bag of medium size). Apart from that, I am fairly certain your nephew will have a nice flight...
Also if he wants to carry the cologne, I advise him to do so in that hand-bag. Smoking is not alowed on flights and please kkep your mobiles switched off during the flight...

It would be better to pack the cologne in hold luggage not hand luggage as they still have restrictions on what can be taken on board.
Which is stupid, they will confiscate certain liquids at customs control, but the same things are on sale in the duty free shops.

You can look at the airline's website to find their allowed and non allowed items. I do believe cologne is allowed, as long as it is packaged in a Ziploc-type bag and not in carry on luggage.. though it may be allowed in a carry on, just depending on the airline's preferences.

I would suggest that you go onto the airline web site and check there for what you can and cannot take. He can take the bottle of cologne in his checked baggage, but don't know if he can take it in his carry-on.

I would say he could bring it on the airplane but not in his carry on bag. That should be fine.
