My jack russell is 16 yrs old. She has now had her season for 6 weeks and i am worrying that this could be cancer. We have never had problems like this before- they have always been the usual 3 weeks with very little evidence of bleeding. Now I am finding little drips every where.
Any thoughts??

The reason that she isnt spayed is because she belonged to my father for the first 8 yrs of her life and he refused to get this done. Yes I probably should have done this yrs ago but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
I will make an appointment for her tomorrow but I was asking anyones views thats all. The dripping was lessening and I thought stopiing but it has become a little heavier today.

She should have been spayed long ago. An unspayed dog this age is very open to pyometra which is a deadly uterine infection if not caught in time. Take her to the vet tomorrow and if he thinks she is strong enough to survive a spay, have it done then. I had a 7 yr old chihuahua spayed and she showed no signs of infection, never acted sick, ate and drank okay, seemed fine. When he opened her up, he said her uterus was full of infection. If she had not been spayed then, we might have lost her.

First of all why is she not spayed at this age? And any time there is a change in hormones levels there is going to be problems, Yes I believe you shoudl take her to the vet pronto. It could just be a hormone imbalance, but at this age she is too old to anesthetize to spay so I am not sure what options you have.

It doesn't matter what I would think. I could say something and it might be totally in left field. Everyone has an opinion, which doesn't necessarily mean anything. What is important is knowing the truth and the only way you will know for sure is by taking the dog to the vet.

I had that problem with a 14 year old brittney. they spayed her which she has went down hill ever since.I feel it was to old to spay her. they said no. do not treat this simply get a vet who is highly recommended and than get a second opinion.my dog will be 16 may 1st. she has never been the same,I would never do it again I would have let her just lived her life out. and yes this can be cancer

I actually have a 13 12 months.previous JR and her tooth are stained and her breath smells yet she is as greater healthful as a Butchers canines. interior the previous I even have had JRs living to 17 and 14 and the two had undesirable breath. for his or her tooth provide them bones to bite on. I even have in no way heard or concept-approximately giving them dried pasta for his or her tooth, it somewhat is somewhat worth a attempt and that i think of a reliable concept. If the canines is okay in itself, do no longer subject.
