What do you mean by "an itchy bottom"?
It can mean you used a toilet tissue/kotex product that has a chemical you react to.
The anus can itch as a reaction to some medications (antibiotics such as Erythromycin have been known to do this).
Anal itching can also be caused by pinworms. Nasty little creatures that can make you really squirm!
Consider what you eat. It can be an allergic reaction to some foods too.
Yeast infections can cause itching as well.
High blood sugar (as in Diabetes) can cause genital itching.
To really know, you need to see a doctor.

Depends.
For a child, allergies, dirty places they sat while wearing diapers only. diaper rash,
Wash the childs posterior with soap and water and look for areas of redness, put some zinc oxide ointment. Observe.
For an adult with normal good hygiene, it could be something wet you sat on, that could be dirty , allergies to laundry detergent used. Rinse cycle not enough when you did the laundry, or worse you wore dirty clothes.
Take a bath, get clean clothes, observe the area if the itch persists.
Ask the doctor.

It could be a number of problems.
You need to wash after you wipe.
maybe you have pinworms (Check with doctor)
Wear cotton underwear.

very sloppy poo residue that hasn't been wiped off a butthole. the acid in the poo causes the itching.
