For a right hander...

The majic move in golf is to bring the right elbow down toward the right hip during the downswing.

Do this without a ball and in slow motion repeatedly and then increase accordingly.

Happy New Year

To cure the legendary and infamous slice you must correct setup flaws. A good setup is related to your feet knees and shoulder line all of these must either be slightly open or slightly closed or somewhere in between no extremes! If you can get comfortable with any of these setups you will either hit it straight left to right or slight draw. When your shoulders are way open in relation to you clubface to the target it produces a swing plane that is to upright way outside of your body so it causes pulls and slices. Most slicers so do not slice with all clubs just the longer ones because it amplifies there mistake. The best way to cure a slice is to ingrain the feeling that your shoulders are aligned with your knees and feet like a hinge on a door.

If you have ever hung a door you will know that it wont open or close unless all hinges are aligned correctly. The most important part is feel no extremes because your body actually is not a door it can very a bit they don't have to be perfectly aligned but they must be close enough so you can use your lower body and upper body in unison. your swing plane is influenced by the way you stand next the ball or your setup if you can fix your setup your have completed the first prequisite of a hiiting good golf shots many other varaibles in golf can cause poor shots and slices but your setup is the only thing in golf that alters the balls flight without taking a swing.

Whew. I slice like mad and still do. You need to find a drill and work at it religiously. While I might suggest the ball drill (Throw a soccer ball at a flat wall with a golf swing motion. Release the ball at the point you would impact the golf ball with your club, and the soccer ball should bounce right back to you. If it bounces away from you on an angle, you just sliced), you probablly should try to get a lesson first, and have a pro analyze your swing to determine the most useful drill and fix.

I had a club fitting and swing analysis with a golf pro, and I learned a lot. My swing is worse than most because I have a permanently broken collarbone, which forces my swing to leave plane more than it should, so I have to do some things differently to correct for it. The issue for me is finding the time and space to do the drills or work on my game. I love golf but am unable to play but 1-3 times a year due to time and money. In a

For curing a slice I would say either move a little closer to the ball or maybe placing the club head a half inch past the ball in your stance. Also don't try to kill the ball. An easy swing doesn't seem to slice as much as the power swing, at least for me

If it's only the Driver you slice, then I suggest just putting it away. Maybe tee off with a 3 or 5-wood or even a low iron. I slice my driver all the time and finally just started teeing off with a 3-Iron. I can get that in the fairway enough that the distance i lose doesn't bother me.

A good drill to try is standing with your back to the driving range with the ball on your left side (if you are right handed) about where you would normally tee it. Hit a few balls and you will see what a draw swing feels like. You can't hit "outside in" which causes your slice. Feels strange at first but I've seen a lot of people lose their slice by using this drill. Also, in your stance , after you've tried this drill move your right foot (for a right hander) slightly back (behind your back, not widening your stance and it will help your swing to either hit it straight or with a slight draw.

The easiest way to learn golf like a pro is by following "The Simple Golf Swing" program. It's primarily a 31 page eBook that teaches golfers how to make solid contact with the ball, how to avoid hitting fat, how to avoid slicing, how get more power, accuracy, and consistency in your swing. Consistency being the number 1 golf skill.

You not only get the eBook though, you also receive a ton of extra material including video, lessons on putting, driving, chipping, sand play etc. Here is their official site: http://www.golfswingguru.net

Everybody is built differently. I banished my slice early-on by moving my right hand farther over the left (I'm right-handed and use the 'over-lapping' grip). In the process I developed a sweet little slight hook that adds roll whereas a slice takes it off.
If you only can get on the course 1-3 times a YEAR you've got a lot of backyard 'swing' practice in store.
Good luck ...and Merry Christmas and a great New Year.

Set up some short little pikes (or tees work fine) on the outside of the path of a straight golf swing... then slowly swing through that path making sure not to hit the tees... pick up speed as you get better. Eventually you'll train your arms into swinging straighter.

1 very good and very simple thing to do is (if your a righty) losen your grip on the right hand. not too much but some. you might not start hitting the ball strait right away but give it a couple weeks and your slice will be gone. i have fixed countless friends, dad's friends, and just people i hooked up with.

A good excersize is to put your feet together and hit a couple of balls in the range, then make your way to your normal stance, also try swingin slower and stand a little further away from the ball.
