Yes, there are 1080p plasma TVs; however, they are (at least for now) far more expensive than 720p plasma.

Plasma, LCD, DLP, LCOS - all of them support atleast 480 resolution. If a plasma TV supports high definition, then they supoort 1080 resolution. All newest plasma's support HD. As DLP is a newer technology, all DLP televisions support 1080 resolution. LCD is good for TVs smaller than 45". Generally larger televisions are always DLP. DLPs have more contrast ratio than LCD televisions. Plasma televisions are decreasing in the market after the arrival of DLPs. Cheaper, more contrast. Also LCOS televisions are getting better. The best ones are that has the highest contrast ratio( contrast ratio is like 5000:1 and so on). I'm not quite sure what the highest is. The higher it gets, the more expensive the unit it.

Resolution on plasma tv is nothing if u compare to LCD tv. so, buy LCD coz plasma tv exaggerate on his size.
