I have a small kitchen and counter space is not existant with all my new appliances. Some of my counter space is used by a spice rack and some containers for flour & sugar, so I am searching for a wall mount solution for these. I have about a 36"Wx12"H space above my sink that would be perfect for a spice rack. I am thinking of the Zervo magnetic one, but I would like something that might hold some jars or even knives. Any suggestions for products or other ideas?

You could take a wood shelf- a sturdy one and take your spice jars and glue the lids of the jars to the bottom of the shelf so you can screw them on and off to get at them. The flour and sugar jars could go on the top of the shelf. As for the knives, you could put up a magnetic strip along any wall. You can buy the shelf and shelf supports at your local hardware store.

Here was some neat magnetic spice racks

This site had magnetic shelves, racks, ect. You could buy a piece of steel from the hardware store, attach it to the wall and then attach some of these things. (I think I may have to do that myself above my stove!)

things over the sink will tend to get wet, keep that in mind. it may not be a good place to store knives that could rust, or spices that may be degraded by moisture. we've always had a window over the sink, so my wife can watch the birds while doing the dishes, (when i do the dishes i just do the dishes don't seem to be able to look at birds without breaking something)...how about a small liquor shelf? for the cooking wines and oils and vinegars and a belt for the cook as well?

I dont agree with the knives not unless they are inside secure containers.- safety concerns.
Store things that dont get wet or moist with condensation since it is right above your sink. Its easy enough to do, bottled stuff should go there, powder, no. Maybe it would be a place for the aluminum foil rolls, waxedpaper and the plastic wrap in that area since those take so much room elsewhere and just gets in the way.
