translator and I don't trust them. So, in Italy when people wish each other a Happy New Year, what do they say?

On-line translators are NEVER correct with idiomatic sentences.
They can translate just word by word but they're are not at all fully reliable.

In Italy to wish Happy New ar we say :

Felice Anno Nuovo or Buon Anno or
Felice e Prospero Anno Nuovo

It's close but not quite right. The word order should be:

Felice anno nuovo!
