GLE grand luxury edition. Came with all the fun stuff, leather interior, BOSE sound ,Wood grains trim packages and remote keyless entry. They were equiped with aloy wheels and better tires. JUST about always a automatic. These did not come with the rear spoiler on the rear bonnet.
GXE grand noneluxury edition. Was the same car minus all the above as named. They had steel wheels and a plactic hub cap.
Were made with automatic and manual transmittion. These could be ordered with the rear spoiler on the bonner and they made alot of them with spoilers.
SE sport edition. Is the same car as the GXE but had fog lights in the front bumper cover and had gages that turned from black background to yellow/white background at night. These most often came with sunroofs. And special aloy sport wheels.
All these have the same motors, no real difference in the drive train in any way. These are only dress up options.
I bought my wife a GXE when we first got married and then get a set of GLE wheels from a salvage yard to dress it up for her. She wanted a white one with a spoiler and did not want a grey interior or a leather interior. You know that took some work to get for her. She really enjoyed that car.

The GXE and GLE were both upper-end Sentras, but the GLE was a little bit more upscale. The GLE often can be seen with (for example) "real" alloy wheels and sometimes has a sunroof. It is usually an automatic. The GXE was rarely sold with alloy wheels, and was never available with a sunroof. Basically, the GLE is a little bit nicer. Same car, but the GLE with more options likely cost several hundred dollars more when new. Does that help?

Basically the same car but the GLE was one grade up and cost about $800 more when new.
