I believe in "recycling." Other people may also refer to this as reincarnation. I believe that the soul is like the energy source for the human body. You see I use this analogy with a computer. Now wrap your mind around this. The human body is a computer, the brain is the computer's hard-drive. The electrical outlet is the soul. When you plug the computer into the outlet it is given the energy to function. While it is plugged into the energy source then it can have programs installed and space used on it's hard drive. For the sake of my explanation we'll call that "receiving memories" or "experiencing life". Now eventually the hard drive and just the computer in general will wear out and eventually lose the ability to function. When a computer loses the ability to function the owner will throw it out. Unplugging it from the socket. The socket still posesses the energy to run another computer however. So then when another computer is plugged in it is allowed to run and recieve memories and experience other programs. But it is still the same energy that powered the first computer. So basically in my opinion yes we have a soul however it does not contain memories or experiences it simply provides the energy to function the body which stores the memories and the experiences.

No. It is a ridiculous idea that is promoted by religion which is based on other ridiculous ideas.

No seriously... religion takes the number 1 prize in the history of mankind for making the most widely believed bullshit story ever.

Bullshit story? Uh...yes, hear me out. Christianity has 1 BILLION people... believing, that there is an INVISIBLE MAN that personally watches every person, everything and is all knowing and has a list of 10 things that each of us mustn't do or he send us to a place he made for us that don't follow the things on that list where we will suffer for all eternity in extreme agony, dispair and fear.. BUT.. he loves us.

Got to bow down to that one. Good job at making so many people believe that is true. It really is quite hilarious. Yet so many people believe it so strongly that they get personally offended by people like myself writing things like this.

You could counter with something like... well if it wasn't true why do so many people believe in it?

Do you deny that you didn't believe in Santa until your friends told you, you saw your parents slip up at night or whatever.

I personally find it amazing how the concept of a man that flys around the world 1 night a year pulled by reindeers gets believed by so many and the believe is only broken until a certain age of maturity reaches where they gain the experience to understand how santa is a big lie. Hell I believed in him myself at one point and was a heart broken child when finding out the truth.

This is evidence however that the idea of such a ridiculously, immediately obviously impossible idea can be nurtured into our children so that they believe it extremely strongly.

Religion does exactly this and nutures an ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS (had to be in caps to emphasize how crazy an) idea into children except religious ideas don't get broken with maturity as they have been believed literally by adults that taught them. God, souls, ghosts, afterlife, lepricauns, tooth fairy, angles, michael jackson and hell even santa... same level of ridiculousness, different ideas.

The problem today is that people don't want to drop the ideas that comfort them today as it makes them feel better. They are so attached to the idea that they will not take a minute to think about what an incredibly stupid thing they are believing in.

Genesis 2:7 says man became a living soul, we do not have a soul, and Ezekiel 18:4 says the soul that is sinning, it itself will die. We die and become non-existent and wait upon Jehovah God for a resurrection.

Yes we all have souls.

Most people don't know this..... about the soul.

The souls of people are the thoughts of God.
When God breathes into his thoughts, we are born Spirit, like our Father Spirit. God sends our spirits on our way to be born and become a redeemed person. And when we die, not only does our Spirit and soul go back to God, if that's the route we chose, but our last breath goes back to God as well. God breathes and things start living, and the last breath comes back to God when we die.

The soul, as a part of ourself that is immortal, has never been proven to exist. There have been many philosophers who've tried to rationalize the existence of the soul, but there remains absolutely no real evidence for it.

Unless you're talking about James Brown, in which case, his widow/heirs/producer will posthumously release a bunch of crap the he didn't think was good enough to put on a record, and exploit his talent for a few bucks.

We do not HAVE a soul.
We ARE a soul.
Genesis 1:27 ....."man BECAME a living soul."
Became is associated with the verb TO BE, not 'have'.
Ezekial 18:4 says souls die.
They become non-existent.

You go to judgment to recieve the reward of everything done in your body in this life. Your soul lives eternally in the destination of your choice and if you have not loved the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength, loved your neighbor as yourself, you likely will miss out on the kingdom of heaven.
Every man has an appointment with death and then His Maker. The question at judgment will be "What did you do with my Son Jesus Christ?" You'll need Jesus for your lawyer, redeemer, sin atonement, mediator, and propitiation for sins on that day.

In Buddhism, there is no concept of 'soul'. The body when exhausts - dies allowing the consciousness to seek a new form; that is generally called re-birth. Consciousness bound by habits, forces of karma, craving, desire to exist bind to form the new birth.

Depending on one's karma, habit, craving & desire to exist, a consciousness may combine with the form of an animal; reborn in the animal realm; or if in a good state gain re-birth in a higher realm such as the devas [known as saints, fairies, angels in other cultures].

Ezekiel 18:4 - KJV - Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so' also the soul of the son is mine: the SOUL THAT SINNETH, IT SHALL DIE. In other words, when you die, it dies because YOU ARE IT.

That's why there's a resurrection promise.
