I got my name (Mouse) tattoed on my arm with a sewing needle. (non-professional tat) It's scabbed over now, and I have no idea how to care for it. Any suggestions?

first of all, do NOT pic the scab off. It will take the color with it. keep it clean and apply ointment several times a day

To be quite honest the first thing you should do is go to a shrink and have your head checked. For the sake of saving maybe $5- $10 You have put your health at serious risk, not only have you opened yourself up for septicemia and hepatitis. But do you realise how serious the consequences of a staph infection can be ? You can lose an arm or leg or even worse if it's an area of the body they cant amputate ! Did You shave the area first ? and PLEASE dont say you sterilised the needle with a flame. Tattooing should only be performed by competent persons with the correct equipment in a properly sanitized environment. Contrary to popular belief Dettol will not do the Job, we use solutions such as hibicleans and alcohol mixed to surgical Strengths to remove nasties from Your skin. Also do You realise the indian ink You probablly used is going to turn green after a while. If You must tattoo yourself buy the correct equipment and never share or re-use needles single use needles and tubes are available on ebay.
However to answer your original question, just rub moisturiser on it, if its at the scabbing stage you have been lucky.

First of all, whatever possessed you to ink yourself with a sewing needle??? Eeewwww~

Anticeptic, such as Sea Breeze or just plain alcohol to keep bacteria from developing. Also wash it regularly with traditional dial bar soap, several times a day. Apply "A&D" Ointment on it, >>NOT<< Neosporin. Keep treating it until the scabs disappear and the wound seems like it's healing.

Good luck, there.

If it's more than two days old, it's too late to use A&D ointment. Don't use triple antibiotic ointment. If it looks infected, you should probably go to the doctor. If not, use a little coco butter lotion or lubrarderm lotion.

Triple antibiotic ointment. If you lose any feeling in your fingers, or if it oozes whatsoever (greenish) go into a doctor.
I know someone who gave herself a tat with a gel pen. She lost feeling in her hand
