It would be nice if itunes identified the NAME of the anti-spyware program. It could be the Norton Internet Security, or MacAfee Security Suite. Or maybe another anti-spyware program?

In any case, open the Control Panel, and pick the ADD/REMOVE Programs section. Pick the anti-spyware program and use the REMOVE button.

But you do need an anti-spyware solution. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs. Both of these programs are FREE and friendly toward itunes.

If it turns out that you must uninstall a full security suite to use iTunes, then you should buy a separate Anti-virus program. I use Norton Anti-virus, but there are others, such as AVG. Visit http://www.grisoft.com/doc/1 (It is not free anymore)

Good luck and Happy Computing!

You don't have to get rid of it, just turn off your anti spyware software until after you finish with then new stuff.

1st though, Disconnect from the Internet, shut off your Spyware scanner software, install the new software package your having trouble with and THEN reboot your computer, so it will come back on and protect your computer.

Same thing works with AntiVirus or Firewall, ocassionally they have to be turned off to install stuff.

But remember to turn them back on or reboot.

If your computer was connected to the Internet while you were Installing, you could open the door to Spyware or something,

BUT remember the trick is to disconnect from the Internet while your are installing something you downloaded.

I have even unplugged the cable to the phone or the back of the PC or Laptop to disconnect when I was really inexperienced.

After your installation is complete, reboot Run spyware anti-virus software programs to make sure your computer is clean...to make sure you did not pick up some unwanted Spyware, or Adware, or Malware.

What you can do is go into your program files folder:
(assuming a windows installation)
My computer > C: > Program Files

Then delete the folder of the program that you want to uninstall. This won't completely remove the program, however. What you will then want to do is run Registry Mechanic.

http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/

This will detect registry settings that are no longer valid and delete them when you choose. The next time you try to uninstall that program, windows should detect that the program uninstallation file is not only missing but so is the program that it's supposed to point to and will ask you if you want to remove it from the list.

Click Start. Go to Control Panel. Click Add or Remove Programs, select the program you want to remove and click remove.
