They accused the Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement of "racial profiling," or selective enforcement against Hispanics, for arresting 1,300 workers on immigration violations in December 12 raids at meatpacking plants in six states.

"We are demanding an end to these immigration raids, where they are targeting brown faces. That is major, major racial profiling, and that cannot be tolerated," said Rosa Rosales, president of the League of United Latin American Citizens, at a news conference.

U.S. Hispanic groups and activists on Thursday called for a moratorium on workplace raids to round up illegal immigrants, with some saying they were reminiscent of Nazi crackdowns on Jews in the 1930s. "This unfortunately reminds me of when Hitler began rounding up the Jews for no reason and locking them up," Democratic Party activist Carla Vela said.

How about the fact they were breaking the law? Or is it more important that Democrats get the Hispanic vote ?

I don't care if you are Hispanic, Russian or from Venus if you are in the US illegally , the govenment has the right to arrest you.

I agree with you. I am half hispanic and half white but my hispanic ancestors were always here in TX. One time TX was Mexico. Anyways, I am against illegal immigrants also. My husband is an immigrant from Jordan and it took thousands of dollars, time, patience and work for him to get here legally so why should people be allowed here illegally when others are here legally. I feel it would be unfair to allow illegal immigrants here when there are people who do it legally and work hard doing it.
Illegal immigration is wrong and unfair since they are breaking the law. Why should laws be changed for illegals? No way.

Hispanics are born in the U.S. and Mexicans were born in Mexico.

I didn't know Carla Vela was in Nazi Germany in the 30s. Was she there legally? The difference between Hitler's round up and immigration raids is that the Jews in Germany had at one time or another been citizens of Germany. They were FLEEING Germany and were refugees in other countries.

We had an immigration raid in my town last year and I'm glad they did it. There are a lot of people in this county who are out of work because factories and companies are moving to bigger cities or outsourcing to other countries. The fact that local contractors hired illegal immigrants from Mexico (I'm in PA) instead of hiring local workers ticked me off. On top of that, my brother was in a car accident when a van swerved in front of him. His insurance had to cover the accident, even though it wasn't his fault, because the people in the van were illegal and had no insurance.

The Dems should be more concerned about the American vote than a racial vote. Then again, the Hispanic sector is the fastest growing race in our country (Time magazine, October 2006). I don't think it's racial profiling; I think it's common sense.

Well of course they're gonna try to call it something else, anything, to avoid saying the outright truth, which was, THEY WERE BREAKING THE LAW.
Oh, and it just broke my heart (lol) when he also said some would have to be sent back and their families would be left alone here.....T.S. is what I say, if they want to live, work, vote, get government benefits, etc., then DO IT LEGALLY. I didn't work all my life to help support illegals.

If you are in this country illegally then you deserve to be arrested.Its simple,it has nothing to do with which race it is.More than half of the illegal aliens are Hispanic,that's a fact .Its not singling out anyone.If a white male killed some one then all white
males are subject to be stopped by police. If a black woman robs a bank ,then all black females are subject to be stopped by the police.Its a fact of life,its police work.So with over half of the illegal aliens in the USA being Hispanic,then Hispanics in the work place will be subject to be asked to verify their legality.It wouldn't bother me in the least.Its not like they didn't find any illegal aliens .They arrested almost 1300 people.So they did the right thing.They need to make it nation wide.Stop the illegal alien from working and maybe he/she/they will go back to their own country's.

They are NOT forced to stay here, imprisoned in their homes, herded into boxcars in freezing weather, stipped naked, inspected, had their gold teeth knocked our, all their personal belongings confiscated, starved, gassed and then had their skins made into lampshades and their bones used to pave sidewalks. HOW DARE THEY EVEN ASSUME SUCH A SIMILARITY!! They came here on their own, ILLEGALLY, could leave any time, get health care, food stamps, housing, PAY on top of all the freebies and then have the audacity to claim they are being treated as the NAZI'S treated the JEWS!! It's moronic to the extreme and they know it but they feel if they scream loud enough and use vile enough language they can scare people into thinking its some how evil and wrong to enforce laws that are, frankly, FAR more lax than the immigration laws of their own country. So tell me something. When we are told that there are far more Mexican illegals than all illegals from all other countries put together, by government estimates, and are told that 50% of all Mexican nationals here are illegally here, by government estimates, and illegals themselves call it racist to be against illegal immigration because Mexicans are the ones typically involved, how can they call it improper to take into account the nationality of a person? I can see where making it a conclusive point would be a problem, but I don't see any allegations that that is happening.

I swear theres times I'd like for them to spend a day as a real slave or take a journey to an encampment and see what it's really like. Ok. the mexicans and other haspanics are givin the choice to get in to america leagaly. i go to a school where 70% is mexicans. The ones who where born here ok but The way i see it is if the mexicans are willing to risk ... wait what are they risking ... people are complaining that we hold a gun to them when they try to cross the border so we cant shoot them. umm we cant imprison them for long periods of time because they know our constitution well enough to know they can get a loyer and have the right to a fair and speedy trial but not well enought to knwo how to drive or pay taxes. so realy they arnt risking anything except they fact that if they get caught they may get deported. wow what a system. they have no fear or consiquences in what they do. thats not right. we faught for our country and texis specificaly from them. if they want it back then if you read our constitution you have the rights to bare arms. Dont get me wrong i have noting wrong with mexicans or hispanics i just think that there is a fair and leagal way to do things. i think that if you are going to brake the law there should be more conciquences then putting them in jail then they pleed they arnt leage so they can go back and try it again.
