i just go married to my husband may of this year, from his previous marriage he was the step father of four kids who had
four different fathers. later in that marraige he had a daughter who is now thirteen. he has been divoiced for five years now and now he is married to me. i dont have any kids. when the daughter
visits for family get togethers she has to bring her two sisters sixteen and twenty-eight. they dont like me because i married their
step father who is no longer married to their mother. they dont speck to me and they look over me. they are freeloaders and i feel like iam married to his ex wife and her kids. i feel that they dont even belong their anymore. i except him raising his daugher but
is he still obligated to take care of her sister too who are not
even his kids. what should i do?

have patience, it is natural that the step daughters are afectionate towards their step fatehr. one need not be related thru blood for that, he might have been there when they needed a father figure the most. ne ways talking to ur husband about this woud be a good idea. if possible talk to the girls, dont assume the role of a step mother, u can be more like a friend to them. invite them one of these days to ur home for lunch or something and see if that works. all the best

No, he is not obligated legally but maybe he feels he is morally and emotionally. Perhaps you should pick a quiet time to speak with your husband about your feelings and concerns. Explain to him what you have written above and that you would like to have just his daughter visit so you can spend quality time with just her and get to know each other better. As for feeling as if you are married to their mother I don't quite understand. Does she come too? Is she in your life and your husbands or is this just an issue with her kids? You must have known all this before you married him - why wasn't it addressed then? What kind of woman would have 5 kids with 5 different men? And the fact that your husband was married to her is a red flag that he does not have too much sense himself. Perhaps you need to talk this over with a professional you respect and trust and get your husband involved so this can be resolved before it ruins your marriage.

I am in the same situation. But mine is actually alot worse. My boyfriends son is 6 and he actually is violent towards me because of his mother and all of that. You need to sit down with your husband and all of the kids and have your husband tell them that you are his wife, your not replacing their mother, and that you are gonna be there for him and for them. And make sure he knows exactly how you feel and he can explain to them that you want to be in their life too. I hope this all works out for you, i know its hard, somedays I dont think I can do it. God, how do people get involved in these things---is it any surprize that this is the way it is----you can't tell me you didn't know any of this before you married this guy. This sounds like a lousy movie---what do you want from anyone---there isn't anything you can do except try to be nice..

It is your house so you lay the rule. Your husband may not be so agreable but your feelings matter too if he truly loves you. You can be fair and balance in decisions regarding his children but you also have to look for yourself and you have to set guidelines as to where you stand on issues that matters to your well being.

unless he raised his stepdaughters as his own it does seem a bit weird. If he has a relationship with his stepdaughters then they have a right to be there. If they don't have a relationship with him and are just there to make you feel uncomfortable then its wrong, especially since the 28 y/o should know better.
