You need a Genuine copy of windows one you brought in a shop or off the net. If you got it with your PC and it isn't Genuine then talk to the company you brought it off. They may have used a pirated copy that is illegal.

If you know its genuine and it just doesn't recons it then contact Microsoft it maybe a simple error some where.

If you did pirate it then there is nothing you can do its one of the only ways Microsoft can currently stop piracy.

My suggestions if it is a pirated copy stick with the WMP you have or go to another media player personally i like winamp the best.

Hi,

You should be able to fix this problem by purchasing a real copy of Windows XP. Fake copies of Windows XP will give you this problem.

Seems like it's a pirated version. Either someone gave it to you for free , or you're using a copy of the original licensed one which is already active somewhere.

Resolution: Go and buy a new one with new license key.

You can call Microsoft and they can help you. Or you can call the place you purchased your computer from and they should help you.

Good luck.
