There can be some discharge and afterbirth for several days after giving birth, that's normal.

But if you see a lot of bright red blood or foul-smelling greenish-black discharge, get your dog to the vet immediately; these are signs of hemmorage, infection and/or a pup that died inside of the mom which can cause the mom to go into shock very quickly.

About sixty percent of dogs bleed after giving birth. Normally there is only a small amount of flow, however, if there is alot of bleeding, I advise you to visit your local pet store, and I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but purchase a doggie diaper and pads to insert into it.

Also, when your dog goes into heat, that is a great thing to use, so you probably already have one.

If the bleeding continues after one and a half weeks, visit your vet because it is NOT healthy, and there is a greater risk of an infection caused during the birth.

Good luck, and Merry Christmas!!

Of course they will. Most will for a week or so.

Guess you haven't had kids yet. It is normal. The body has to get rid of all the "stuff" left over from the pregnancy.
