I attended New Life Church, and finally was compelled to leave. There were all kinds of quirky things about the Church that now make sense after Ted Haggard was exposed. There were unreasonable rules in the Singles group for instance (no spending time alone with a member of the opposite sex, dating was frowned upon) - it felt like a cult group, micro-managing our lives.

When I left, I later wrote back to the Church and also called to address some bad doctrinal practices that were spreading from New Life Church to other local churches in the NAE (what a nightmare).

Ted had me arrested for harrassment, and I spent 52 days in jail (still trying to clear my name). Any reactions?

By the way, in I Corinthians 6:1-11, Paul clearly states that Christians are not to take other Christians to court. Ted, and his buddy next door, Dr. James Dobson, will arrest you in a heart beat. Reactions to that?

All this sounds about right. In the 1980s, before Jimmy Swaggart was caught with the prostitute (twice), he had a bible college. They had some pretty stiff rules over there too. Can you imagine being a grown adult and having a curfew at 9pm?
I've had it with these tele-evangelists, many of who are nothing but money making machines that are feeding on the emotions of the gullible and the elderly....in God's Name. I don't understand how you can charge for a teaching "that The Lord laid upon my heart". If God gave you this teaching, then it should be available for everyone free of charge. Not just your "minstry partners". What we need now, is someone who we can believe in. Someone who actually walks the walk, not just talks the talk. Anyway, it seems that the old feud between Jimmy Swaggart and Marvin Gorman is still going on, after 20 years!!! Both still have ministries. So much for forgiveness. I hear ya bro.....best of luck clearing your name.

Okay, I'm not a Ted Haggard fan. I never heard of him before he made the six o'clock news. But.....it's hard to believe that you were arrested and jailed for a letter and a phone call unless that letter was really over the top. Please, if you will, tell us "the rest of the story".

Well, common sense says not to "tempt yourself" by dating alone or spending time alone with a member of the opposite sex.

Your joking about being arrested, right? I mean, serious? What was the charge?

You see Ted has BIG problems. He is not who he should be.or where he should be. He knows this. He did you wrong. and should be ashamed of himself.
