I was just wondering, since here in the US, where there is a predominantly Christian population, annoying Christmas music is played all over the place in late November and December.

Actually, I'm not Jewish, and I DO celebrate Christmas. However, I do find a lot of Christmas music annoying, especially when it's played all over the place. Come on! Just how many versions of "Jingle Bells" do we need? I also know a lot of other people who celebrate Christmas but who find Christmas music annoying, so it shouldn't be surprising if some Jews find some Hanukkah music annoying, as well.

well I am not Israeli but I have spent to Hanukkah seasons in Israel. Dose that count?

You see some decorations in malls (almost none on peoples houses).

as for blaring Hanukkah music? No it dosent happen. If anytime it happens its during Purim. How many times can you blast the same song over and over again.

I agree that the Christmas music is annoying. First of all, it's the repetition. There are only a few songs, but everyone seems to make a version of each, leading to millions of minute variations on a half dozen themes. I feel like I have deja vu everywhere I go and hear the same thing over and over.

The other annoying thing is the way the entire country uses Christmas music, decorations, etc for two months a year to push the holiday on everyone. Not everyone celbrates the bloody holiday!

The answer to your question is no. Israelis celebrate Hanukkah, but it is a pretty minor thing. There are way better holiday celebrations over there.

I do agree that Christmas music is very annoying in the US. But, Hanukkah music should not be annoying in Israel, where the population is mostly Jewish.

Since it's not really a present-fest, there's no annoying shopping music there. There would be a few traditional songs, but actually sung by people in gatherings, not played infinitely on the radio or whatnot.

Have you heard "Give the Jew Girl Toys" by Sarah Silverman? That song should be played everywhere!
