Rockford Fosgate, Alpine, Pioneer, JL Audio, Infinity, MTX, Memphis.
Make sure whichever woofer you get that the RMS is gonna be over 200watts. You will get great SPL (sound pressure level, or loudness) like that. For SQL (sound quality level), I'd stick with the Infinity, Memphis and JL's. JL's are "most popular" because they are so pricey. I can guarantee you any of the other subs i listed above other than the JL can blow JL out the water.
But remember:
-over 200 watts RMS
-Make sure th box is the right size
-make sure the amp you get doesnt over power your woofer
-more expensive doesnt mean its better

if you really want to thump get 2 kicker cvr's 12" you will get a great deal and they can handle way more power than they say they can...if you wanting a competition style system...move to the L5 or L 7 kickers, either way you go kickers are the best bang for your buck and with the 2 yr warranty from circuit city if you can blow them, you can get new speakers

Here's an idea - get two kicker 12's - 500 watts, and you will be all set.
