Any recommendations on either a compact SUV under 25k or a good site to find recommendations (not edmunds.com)?

A used Honda CRV or Toyota RAV 4 are good buys and actually have good resale values.

If you dont need it in a rush, best time to buy is around March/April as the dealerships are trying sell off their years models to get ready for the new year's models. YOu can probably get one of the above for about $21,000 OTD if you can work it and put a good deal amount on the deposit down (Dotn buy extended warranties)

Hyundai offers a great warranty with their cars and are definitely worth a look. You can get a new 2007 Hyundai Tucson, a JD Powers award winner for best initial quality. Most Hyundai customers are very happy with their cars because you get a well built car while saving some money as well. You also get roadside service included.

The Santa Fe is another model you can get, slightly larger than the Tucson and a bit more expensive, however there are several configurations available for under 25k. Check them out at http://www.hyundaiusa.com/.
