Do they believe that god is somehow weakened by disbelief and can't help us adequately unless the vast majority prays to him? It really seems like they do. People say god let's things happen because we've turned our backs on him. Recently the pope has pleaded that we turn away from technology and back to god. It seems that he insinuated that if we all turn back to god somehow starvation and war will be a thing of the past. This makes no sense to me, unless he things that god needs prayer as a sort of food to have strenth enough to battle the evils of this world... Is this what Christians believe?

On a realted note i guarantee that even if every man, woman, and child on this earth believed in god 100% and prayed to him atleast once daily we would still have all of the problems we have today.

They just want to "spread the word." Technically, God has always had power. He doesn't NEED our worship. He just WANTS our worship. People just want to be God's suck-up so that he will make everything go their way. They believe that He can do anything as long as you rub him right. But apparently, nobody can rub him right. Nobody is good enough for Him. That's why I've given up trying. He's just trying to make us act like fools just for His own amusement. I'm sick of Him.

but (& that's a big but) if there is a God then you as one of God's mere creations cannot guarantee that statement...

First of all, the short answer: NO!!! I mean think logically. If God got his power from worship, what power has been bestowed on humans that are worshipped? Whether they be sports heros, entertainment celebrities, brilliant politicians. None whatsoever. Any power they gain is merely temporary. They can also lose it as we can see. It's what's called being "out of power". They all get old, sick and die. And where were the worshippers when he first started his creative works?

I will say you are right about one thing. If every man, woman and child believed in God 100% today we would still have all the problems we have today. Why? Because it is not his time to cleans the earth of it's problems. However, we are living in the time Jesus. his SON, prophecied about... the last days. Read Matt. 24. The entire thing. It might get you to thinking.

Wow. This is really disheartening. Do you honestly think that Christians believe this?

God existed before this world and will exist after it. How could He depend on the world to "power" Himself? God doesn't "need" anything - on the contrary, we need to worship God. We are created to be in commune with God - without Him, we are left with a void in our very being.

We humans (yes, even Christians often times) try to fill this void with scientific knowledge or relationships or wealth or success or a more "convenient" spirituality, but we consistently come up short of God's intent.

I'd like to clarify a few things. First, you imply that God is not fully in charge of the "battle" between good and evil. In this, you are grievously incorrect. God is in control of every moment, and can at any second pull the plug - game over. Satan and his minions have already lost this battle. God is not waiting until He can muster enough power to "charge" Himself up and blast Satan into pieces ala Dragon Ball Z. Instead, He allows the world to continue to give US the opportunity to follow Him. When He has waited long enough, He will strike evil down and declare victory.

I'd also like to point out that if we believed in God 100%, we wouldn't pray to Him "once daily". Instead, we'd be in constant communication with Him, as Christ was. Don't be fooled into believing that God requires some sort of ceremony or ritual to talk with Him. Just talk.

If we all believed, would we still have the problems that we have? Yes. People managed to break this world by turning their backs on God, and we have to live with those consequences. If God were to simply remove the consequences for all our actions, He would no longer be a just God.

Do me (and yourself) a favor. For a primer into the nature of God, read the book of Romans in the Bible. It's not long at all - fairly concise and interesting. Hopefully that should clear up some confusion you may be experiencing.

God does not get His power from worship. He was, is, and always will be omnipotent.

God is not weakened by disbelief, and He can work regardless of what the vast majority believes and does. The vast majority of people in this world are not Christians, yet God is at work now!

God's goal is to bring glory to Himself. He wants everyone to worship Him and have a relationship with Him. Sometimes this means that when people are not seeking or following Him, He "lets things happen" to get their attention.

If everyone truly turned back to God, meaning that they trusted Jesus Christ for salvation and made him the Lord of their lives, it would change the world because everyone would be living to please God - loving and worshiping Him and loving and serving other people.

No, God would be powerful even if everyone turned away from him he created us, we don't give him strength, he gives us strength. There would be no problems if we all loved God because God teaches us to all love each other so there would be no wars and the world would be a better place. I think technology can be very useful in doing Gods work, it means that we can travel long distances and help people far away and stuff like that so it would be stupid to turn away from it. Prayer is really powerful if you completely believed that if you ask God to move a mountain it will happen then it will.

NO! He accepts it from us and His angels. Before all things existed, He was! God has no need of anything! He existed for aeons before anything came into being. He is the Alpha and the Omega. The Beginning and the End.

Your last statement is correct. We as humans are basically interested in our own creature comforts. Remember, God made us as free will agents. We can think and act on our own. For the most part, our decisions are wrong! As such we have wars, famines, disease, crime, pollution and so on. We think and have thought in the past and now in the present, that we know it all! There in lies the problem!

If we lived according to His plan, and stopped being so self centered, things would get much better. But, that is not likely to happen.

Until the Second Coming of Jesus, things will remain the same, and will very soon get much, much worse.

It's already happening! Be ready! He will come when you and I least expect it!

Here is a clue. Keep your eyes on Israel. As she goes, so goes the world!

God needs no worship, warship, or any ship for that matter. Those who need a ship are the humans and other creatures as a means of transportation from one place to another. God could as well command or inspire us to build such a ship, as Noah did, and direct us into a new way of life, powered by the engine of his utmost love and mercy for mankind. What are known as angels, or even God, himself, riding and roaming the universe in charriots of fire, or other mysterious vehicles, could have been at some point of time designated for this special purpose.

1. God helps those that help them self.
Favorite saying of "the well to do", Christians or not.
What are the poor, sick, abused, living in fear in war torn
countries and in general unfortunate people to do?
They probably pray more than "the well to do".
There always were problems and evil in this world. long
before the christian religion was established.
It is up to us to make things right - not to God.

2. Your guarantee is worthless - has no meaning and you can't
possible know what is in the future.

The thought that God "needs anything" is laughable. Jehovah needs NOTHING. He exists outside of Time and Space, He IS POWER. He is the perfect definition of it. So, no, he does not "grow" when prayed too, at all. That is for us to grow closer to HIM, not to support him but US. Friendship with God (well, to a degree), after all, you should never take your God for granted like many do their friends, is a gift he offers us and we should not abuse it.

And there is a "perfectly" good reason why "bad things happen to good people," but thats another story and I'm not here to explain it. God needs NOTHING, we need him. He was created (by himself) WITH his holy spirit (active spirit force) think power source. So, he already has a source of energy that's never ending that he created when he willed himself to be.

Good question tho'
