Do you have kids and are they her grandchildren? If so, stopping her from coming over my prove hard. But if you dont have kids play music really loud the minute you see the car pull up in your driveway and pretend your exeercising to the music. Or better still, just tell her that you would prefer that she limit her visit to certain days and certian times of the day. Hopefully, she will not get offended, but if she does, you still got rid of her!!! Make sure you discuss your feelings about her visits with your husband, but not your plan to rid of her, he might go tell and ruin everything.

be totally ignorant when she comes round, turn the telly up louder, go into another room or on the phone, I used to have an 8 foot boa constrictor, I fed her an hour before my Mum in law came round and we had her out in the living room, unfortunately we saw the food coming the wrong way up her body, knowing she was going to be sick, there was nothing around to put under her head apart from my mum in laws handbag, so I grabbed it and she puked up a half eaten rat, straight into her handbag !!! it worked wonders lol. don't go and buy a snake though lol. stuff the kids with chocolate and fizzy pop and run round for a while before she gets to your house

You have not said why you want to do this - does your other half have no say in the matter? Perhaps they would also like to stop your mother coming over. I suggest you make specific invitations (time/day/date) and if she drops in at any other time just say you're really sorry but it isn't convenient at the moment can she come back on (day/time etc).

Remember you don't have to lie, you are perfectly within your rights to say exactly how you feel. As long as you show proper respect to her as a person then you are free to express yourself, she doesn't have to like it! It is your house, so keep her in check when she is visiting. Don't let her start re-organizing things for you, etc. And be thankful that she will eventually leave to go to her own home. Just make sure she does nothing risky, like climbing ladders, and breaks her leg and has to be cared for at your home for 6 weeks... ooooh!

I get round it by being really friendly and always just working when she askes to come and after she has asked about 5 times i find the time for her to come on the 6th but give her a time lock in which she has to go because she stays for hours and her son hates her coming so he gets cross. But i am always poliet and friendly you should never ailenate your husband's mother even if he doesn't like her because one day he may change his mind :)

Why would you want you MIL to stop visiting?
First of all her visiting may be the "worse " part of "for better or worse" but you can not forbid your MIL from visiting.
If she visit too often perhaps it is up to your wife to say, "Mom, I love you but we need a little privacy."
