I always thought this was not possible, that's what you always hear... until I lost a litter of puppies about a year ago to a human cold.

In talking to my vet at length, and several visits and tests, it was determined that the puppies had caught the human influenza and since they had no immune system at such a young age I lost half of the litter. The three biggest survived because of medical intervention and heartiness. Viruses can be spread between humans and animals, just think of bird flu. Most do not, by far. But there is a small possibility. This would probably have not affected an adult dog, just puppies with immature immune systems. But since my puppies are raised in home in a good environment, and they hadn't been exposed to any sick dogs then a virus that turned into a respitory infection is what killed some of them. The vet treating them was one of the top vets in the state. Thanks to him I was able to save three of the puppies at least, and they were all the heartier for it.

If your dog is an adult or over 12 weeks you should not have anything to worry about. I have never had an adult dog catch a cold from a human. (or vice versa)

no its a very rare thing but what can happen is a cold is virus every body carries somesort with them your dog could carry a influenza virus on his pores or on his fur and you can pick it up but not likley unless he has been in contact with someone who has flu already..
