I have BitComet V0.70 on my PC. I have never had issues before, but now anytime I want to download something BitComet opens up, even if it is not a torent file. I have also noticed that when right clcik on anything two of the options that appear are "Download all links using BitComet" and "Download all videos using BitComet". I have looked in the BitComet preferences and have not noted any option that would allow me to end this. Any suggestions on how to stop BitComet from trying to default on verything I wish to download? thanks.

The best bet is to dump bitcomet. It's an older bittorrent app that's unsupported. The makers abandoned it - some bungholes got the source code, added spyware and call it BitLord and sell the junk to unsuspecting noobs - which has resulted in a lot of sites banning the client from their servers since it doesn't handle newer protocols
Try utorrent. It's free, uses almost no resources and is extremely stable. It's also updated frequently though that may change shortly but it's still one of the best.
